29 First-Year Students Thrive in 2026 TRIO SSS Summer Bridge Program
A group of 29 first-year students was accepted into the TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) Program and participated in a successful four-week Summer Bridge Program from July 6 to July 30, 2026. The program was designed to provide students with the academic, social, and personal development tools needed to make a successful transition into college and begin their first semester with confidence.
Throughout the summer, students earned three college credits in English Composition, which will count toward their core graduation requirements. Through the course, students strengthened their writing skills and developed strategies for effective college-level communication and academic writing.
In addition to their coursework, students participated in a variety of workshops and activities focused on college readiness and personal success. Financial literacy workshops provided students with essential knowledge and strategies for managing their finances as college students. College readiness workshops helped students become familiar with the expectations and resources associated with college life, while study hall preparation sessions equipped students with effective study strategies, time-management skills, and academic habits to help them excel in their courses throughout the semester.
A highlight of the Summer Bridge experience was the group’s first trip to the American Museum of Natural History in New York City, where students had the opportunity to explore exhibits and engage in an educational experience outside of the classroom. The trip provided students with an opportunity to learn, connect with their peers, and experience one of New York City’s renowned cultural and educational institutions.
The 2026 TRIO SSS Summer Bridge Program provided first-year scholars with a strong foundation for their college journey. Through academic coursework, workshops, mentoring, educational experiences, and preparation for the semester ahead, students gained the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to successfully navigate their first year of college.
